Ziadies Solicitors was founded by Michael Ziadie and Daksheenie Abeywardene in 1984.
Michael Ziadie, whose family migrated from Lebanon to Jamaica in the early 1900′s, came to the UK in the 1970′s. Although family tradition pointed to a career in the arts, Michael’s vocation was law and he decided to pursue his legal career in England. He qualified as a Solicitor shortly after arriving here, specialising in litigation and private client work and soon established the reputation for legal excellence, which the firm has continued to build on ever since. Although Michael died in 1994, his strong ethics, values and integrity, and his desire to put his “Principles in Practice” are an enduring feature of the firm that still bears his name.
Strong Ethics, Values and Intergrity… the desire to put “Principles in Practice”
Daksheenie Abeywardene came to the UK in 1984 from Sri Lanka, where she had already made her mark in the legal profession. After graduating from Law College cum laude, she trained in the Chambers of President’s Counsel and was then appointed one of Sri Lanka’s first women Assistant State Attorneys. She qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1985.
During her 26 years of practice in the UK she has spent several years working on the Family Law Panel and been a Senior Immigration Law Caseworker for over 5 years. Although she still practices family law and undertakes some private client work, most of her time is devoted to heading the firm’s immigration law department. Mrs Abeywardene has been the Senior Partner of Ziadies since 1994.
When they established Ziadies Solicitors the Founding Partners had a clear vision of who the firm would serve and the ethos it would work by. They wanted to create a practice that would provide the highest possible level of legal services to Clients in a way that reflected their values of integrity, understanding and professionalism.
The vision and values of our Founding Partners continue to define our culture and our practice.
Ziadies Solicitors is a member of the Association of Christian Law Firms, reflecting our ethos and practice.
At Ziadies we are continually faced with an opportunity and a challenge: the opportunity is to build further on our reputation and to go on expanding; the challenge is to make sure we keep providing the same service standards to all our clients.
We are determined to succeed in both, and wish to assure our clients that our commitment to our traditional values and standards is undiminished.
